Kirk Brannock started his career with Michigan Bell (part of AT&T/Bell System) in 1980, after graduating with honor from Michigan State University.  During his senior year at Michigan State, Kirk was one of 25 graduating seniors to receive Michigan State University’s, “Outstanding Senior Award” for Academic excellence and Campus involvement.

Kirk’s first assignment was in the Lansing Residence Service Center in Michigan Bell’s Advanced Management Program.  He then moved to Human Resources/Labor Relations as a Contract Administrator assisting in the negotiations of the 1983 Labor Agreement, when Michigan Bell was still part of the Bell System and  AT&T.

Kirk’s 30 year career spanned the period when AT&T and the Bell System Companies (or Baby Bells) were broken up and the Regional Operating Companies (Ameritech, Bell South, Pacific Bell, SBC) were formed. It continued as regulation eased driving further consolidation within the industry with Mergers & Acquisitions creating the reformation of the “new” AT&T.

In is 30 year career, he held various Line and Staff Operations positions in Switching Systems, Large Business Services, Small Business, Installation and Maintenance, Engineering  and  Technology Planning.  In 2002, Kirk became a Corporate Officer and President of AT&T Midwest Network Services responsible for all aspects of the Network Organization with 30,000 employees and a $5 Billion Expense and Capital Budget.

In December, 2010, Kirk retired from AT&T at the age of 52. In his honor for his 30 years of leadership, loyalty and extraordinary contributions, the Executive Wing of the Midwest AT&T Headquarters was dedicated in his name.

Today, he is actively involved with Board work, a supporter of Michigan State University along with an organization in Southeast Michigan called Angels Place, that cares for adults with disabilities.

Kirk and his wife Patti reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and have two daughters, Katie and Kelly.
